Meet your instructor

About Alex Merrill

Alex, founder of Alliance Tutoring, taught English, coached, and dorm-parented for nearly 20 years at Dartmouth College, The King School, Kingswood-Oxford, Philips Andover and The Taft School. In August of 2019, he quit teaching to found Alliance in Greenwich, CT, a seven-figure coaching and tutoring liaison service. Alliance harbors some 40 subcontract tutors and serves hundreds of active clients regionally and virtually around the world. He now operates the business from his home in Farmington during the mornings, requiring roughly 20 hours of time per week, while also acting as parent to his three small children in the afternoons and evenings. He attended Philips Exeter Academy and received an undergrad degree from Kenyon College and a Masters Degree from Dartmouth College.
