Who’s Hiring from the Fastest Growing Companies 2009 Vol 2

jetsFast company, fast company, you’re goin’ nowhere, you’re goin’ nowhere fast” – Don Henley & Glenn Frey

Did you ever wonder what it must be like to be on the “ground floor” of the next best thing? Imagine having been one of the first 100 employees of Microsoft, Apple, Google or even GE? That’s part of what the Fastest Growing Companies is all about. While not all of these companies are start-ups (some are well established like RIM), some of these companies are the next best thing and those that work for them are in on the “ground floor”.

That being said, there are some companies that start out as the next best thing and then lose the plot. One example is Blockbuster which started out as the leader in video rentals and then sat by and watched NetFlix pave the way for a new business model. Will Blockbuster survive?  We will have to wait and see.

While I’m reviewing the Fastest Growing Companies in sequential order, I will skip those that either don’t have a careers site or don’t post jobs on their career site. After all, this blog is about finding a job, not just reviewing companies (unless they have something to offer on the job market side). So, you should also take a look at the full list when you get a chance (Fastest Growing Companies).  Now on to today’s companies which cover manufacturing, coffee roasting, fertilizer, magnetic technology and commodities exchages.

  • CF Industries Holdings – Ranked at number 6,  CF (according to their website) “is one of North America’s largest manufacturers and distributors of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizer products“. Their careers page is fairly basic, giving an overview of the company, functional career types and benefits. There is a “Please click here” link to lead to their career opportunities. The linked page lists all job opportunities. Click on any opportunity to see a full description. The page also provides snail mail and email information.  There was one job opportunity when I checked the page.
  • Bruker – This company manufactures X-ray systems and magnetic technology and is ranked at number 9. Their careers page lists job links for each department. The links for each department are available on both the left hand side of the page as well as in the center of the page. There is no one place to look for job opportunities, you must click each department and follow through to your region to see jobs available.
  • Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan – Ranked at number 10, Potash is the world’s biggest fertilizer maker. Their careers page has links on the left for Career Opportunities, Career Builder (upload you resume, fill out an application, create alerts, etc.) and other information on the company. The center of the page has a company overview, followed by a link for current opportunities. The opportunities page lists each job opening – click on any job to see the detail. There were four job opportunities when I visited the site.
  • Green Mountain Coffee Roasters – As you might expect, this company is a coffee roaster. Ranked at #11, there careers page has links on the left hand side of the page for benefits and locations. The center of the page has “hot new openings”, followed by a simple job search engine. You can also register on the site and create job search agents. There were 57 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • IntercontinentalExchange – Known as ICE, Intercontinental is ranked 12 and runs commodities futures exchanges. Their careers page provides a company overview in the center of the page with one link on the right hand side for “View the list of openings”. Clicking that link leads to a page listing all of the job opportunities. Click on any opportunity to see the detail on the position. You can post your resume and apply to jobs on line or via snail mail. There were 21 job opportunities when I checked the site.

Good luck in your search.

  • The other way to benefit: work with the companies that work with growth companies.

I work with Q Analysts, a leading IT consulting firm. It was been named America’s fastest growing staffing company in 2009 by Staffing Industry Analysts. It was featured in the Silicon Valley Business Journal: http://sanjose.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2009/09/21/smallb1.html

With a five-year compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 104.4%, privately-held Q Analysts generated $17.4 million in sales in 2008. The company, founded in 2003, is a certified minority business enterprise and serves Fortune® 500 and emerging growth companies.

A job with Q Analysts can get you in the right place with other fast growing firms.
