Who’s Hiring from the Best Companies – Vol XVII

On to the next few companies on this list (after reviewing out “list of lists” in the last post). What makes a company a “best place to work” is based on many factors, including employee morale, work/life balance, benefits and “perks”. Appearing on the Best list (or any of the “top” lists) is certainly a good indication.

  • Bright Horizons – Ranked 80th on this year’s list (up from 89 last year), this company is “the world’s leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, back-up care, early education, and work/life solutions”. With over 14,000 employees in the US (and over 2,000 overseas), Bright Horizons hired 101 people last year. Their career page is fairly busy, “Careers at Bright Horizons” is on the left hand side of the page and has links to Benefits, Top ten reasons to work there, Career Options and more. The right hand side of the page has Search Jobs and Apply, highlighted positions and a link to Career Events. Clicking on Search Jobs and Apply links to a page with a listing of job categories (Teaching, Leadership, Administrative and Corporate). There were over 450 job opportunities on their site when I checked.
  • S.C. Johnson & Son – Not a very large company (3,300 employees in the US and over 8,000 outside of the US), 81st ranked S.C. Johnson has very well known products (Pledge and Windex to name a few) and added 50 jobs last year. The link to their careers page is very prominent on their home page (it is usually a very small link at the bottom of the page for most companies). The careers page has a number of links down the left hand side of the page (Career Opportunities, Marketing, Sales, Finance & Accounting, etc.) each of which leads to a page with dedicated information on those career choices. At the bottom of the list is Submit Resume (you should know the drill here) and Search Current Openings). The center of the page has contact information. Click on Search Current Openings where you will get an opportunity to register or just search for openings if you don’t want to register at this time. It was difficult to determine exactly how many job openings were available but it looks like there were approximately 25 job opportunities when I checked.
  • Perkins Coie – Ranked 82 on this year’s list, Perkins Coie is a Law Firm with approximately 1,700 employees and hired 44 people last year. The have appealing (no pun intended) careers page, with links to Summer Program, Entry Level, Lateral and Professional Staff. Click on any of these links to be led to comprehensive pages with deep background on each job category. The left hand side of each of these pages have additional links (like “how to apply”) including Available positions.
  • eBay – If you haven’t heard of eBay, then you probably just returned to Earth from a long journey away. eBay, ranked 83 on this year’s list (down from 68 last year), has over 15,000 employees globally and hired 773 people last year. They have quite a few affiliated companies (PayPal, Skype, StubHub and more). Their careers page has tabs along the top for Search Listings, Culture, Benefits and University Relations. The center of the page has two selections – US Jobs and International Jobs. From Search Listings, you can login, register or search openings (submit resume and international openings are separate links). There were 162 US job opportunities 139 International job opportunties when I checked.
  • Juniper Network – Juniper, ranked 84 on the list, designs, develops and sells products and services related to network infrastructure. They have over 6,000 employees globally and hired 477 people last year. Their career site provides company background in the center of the page with links on the left for Job Search, Benefits, Culture and more. Clicking on Job Search leads to a basic search page which allows registration, login or plain old job search. There were 145 jobs when I checked their site.

Good luck in your search.
