Who’s Hiring from the “Best Companies” (Vol IV)

If you’ve been following this series (and any of the other “Who’s Hiring” posts) then you will know that there are jobs out there, it’s just a matter of matching skill sets with job opportunities and being in the right place at the right time. Even if the companies you are interested in don’t have a job that specifically matches your skills, you should still register on the site as you never know when one will come up.

  • SAS – SAS added 237 jobs last year (5% job growth). SAS was ranked 20 on the list (up from 29). The career page provides a brief overview of the company followed by a worldwide career search function by region. Clicking through region will lead to country and then a choice of Professional Opportunities and Student Opportunities. Following on to job search will allow registration or sign-in. A quick search for th US returned 23 job openings.
  • Arnold & Porter – Based in Washington DC and number 21 on the list (and also on the Working Mother top 100 list), Arnold & Porter is a Law Firm that covers a broad range of industries. Their career site gives background on the Firm and has a dedicated search for Attorneys as well as a general search function. Their general search function returns jobs for legal secretaries and other support functions. There are special links for Associates, Summer Associates and London Trainee Solicitor. The Attorney search is based on practice.
  • Whole Foods Market – Based in Texas, Whole Foods is number 22 on the list (down from 16 last year). This organic food store chain has 275 stores. Their career site has company info, info on Job Fairs and events the Hiring Process and job search. Begin your job search by selecting the state where you want to work. It’s not clear if there is a registration or resume post process.
  • Zappos.com – Ranked 23 (and new to the list this year), Zappos is the number 1 seller of shoes on the Internet. Their career site starts with two job search choices: “Find jobs in Nevada” and “Find jobs in Kentucky” as well as links to background on the company. Clicking on either location lists the available jobs (Nevada had 7). Click on a job that matches your criteria and you can apply online (including resume upload). What is not clear is if there is a resume database that matches your resume against other job opportunities.
