Who’s Hiring from Forbes Most Trustworthy Companies List – Vol 1

j0295161“Trust is the highest form of human motivation.”Stephen Covey

Another list but from a different business magazine. “Trustworthy Companies” is an interesting topic and, for this list the criteria according to Forbes Trustworthy is “the 100 businesses on American exchanges with the most transparent and conservative accounting practices and most prudent management”. Forbes segregated the list between Large, Mid and Small Cap. So why is this important you may ask? One word ENRON. You don’t want to work for a company that may go the way of Enron, so Trustworthy should be high on your list of criteria when picking the companies you would work for. There are not as many job opportunities across the companies in today’s post as there are in some of the other reviews, but you only need one job and there are more than that here. Starting from the top of the Large Cap list today.

  • George Weston – George Weston is a food processing company and has more that 155,000 employees (now that’s big). There are several companies that are part of George Weston and each has it’s own website.  This post will focus on George Weston Ltd. Their career site is fairly simple with the main page providing an overview of the company followed by a list of 12 functional areas for employment. This is then followed by a list of company benefits. There is no search on the website but they do provide an email address for forwarding your cover letter and resume.
  • Hess – Gas and Oil (exploration, production, refining, and retail sales) sums it up for Hess. Their careers page is clear and crisp, with a company overview in the middle of the page and “Choose Your Career Path” directly below (which matches some links on the left hand side of the page). The Career Path section has four choices: Experienced Professionals, University Graduates, Internships and Retail Careers. You will need to search each of the four criteria individually to see all of the job opportunities. There were 80 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • Consolidated Edison – Con Ed is the main electric company for New York. Their careers page is fairly simple, with links to Career Opportunities and Benefits on the left hand side of the page, an overview of the company in the middle of the page with embedded links for Career Opportunities and available openings in the text. Clicking on the Career Opportunities leads to another page where there are choices for full time professionals, skilled trades and college seniors/recent grads. The available openings link leads to a page that lists functional areas – you will need to click on these to see available openings. There were 20 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • Suncor Energy – According to their website, Suncor is an integrated energy company. Their careers page has links on the left hand side of the page for Apply, Experienced Professionals, Trades & Operators and Students and Recent Grads. The center of the page has similar links with brief overviews for each. You can click on each of these links for a deeper view, along with an additional link for Search Careers (on the left hand side of the page).  There were 22 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • Linear Technology – I had not heard of this company until I saw their name on the Forbes list. They produces “a line of integrated circuits that support the communications, computing, industrial, and automotive markets” according to their website. Their careers page has links on the left hand side of the page for Job Search, Benefits, Career Events and University Recruiting. The center of the page has similar links, with a table listing their locations in the US, Europe and Asia. Clicking on Job Search leads to a search page where you can sign in, save search engines or just search for jobs. There were 5 job opportunities when I checked the site.

Good luck in your search.
