One more post after this one and we will have covered all 100 of the Best Companies to Work for from Fortune.com’s list. Five more for you on this post and it is a fairly good mix of companies (most of which you’ve probably heard of). Not that losing a job is a good opportunity, but it is certainly a time to think about changing careers, industries locations or any combination of these. So, as you review the list, keep this in mind.
- FedEx - We’ve all heard of this company, ranked 90 on this year’s list. FedEx has locations all over the US and internationally. Their Career Site is hard to find, but once you get there (just click the link at the beginning of this paragraph). FedEx has over 233,000 employees in the US and another 40,000 outside of the US. They actually had a net decrease in jobs last year. Their career site has tabs in the middle of the page for Job Search, Job Agent, Job Cart, Areas of Talent and more. You must select a country before you can search for jobs (mid right hand side of the page). There were 421 job opportunities in the US when I checked the site.
- Gilbane – Ranked 91 on the list, Gilbane is a less known company and is involved in Real Estate and Construction. They are one of the largest privately held companies in the US with over 2,100 employees and 235 jobs added last year. From their website, there are two career pages to link to. The first one (the link at the start of this bullet) is for the Building Company. The second link is for Gilbane Development Company. You can submit a resume to the development company or do a job search from the building company.
- Four Seasons Hotels – While many of us have never stayed at a Four Seasons Hotel (especially if we are out of work!), most of us have heard of the hotel chain. Ranked 92 on the list this year and with over 13,000 employees in the US and another 20,700 outside of the US, the Four Seasons hired over 510 people last year. Their career site has allows registration for posting your resume and also hosts a blog. You can just search for jobs if you wish (top right hand side of the page), which leads to a page where you can select your city of choice from a domestic and international list organized by region. You can also select Keywords from this page and search that way.
- Valero Energy – Ranked 93 on this year’s list and also on the Fortune 500 list, Valero is the largest oil refiner in the North America. Valero has over 20,000 globally and had a net decrease in jobs of 571 last year. The Valero Career Site offers 4 choices: Professionals, Refinery Operations, Corner Store Careers and Internships. The bottom right hand side of the page has a career center where you can create your profile. Clicking on any of the tabs links to the listed section and a job search function on the left hand side of the page. There were 88 jobs when I checked the site.
- Build-A-Bear Workshop – Who wouldn’t want to work at the Build-A-Bear Workshop? Ranked 94 on this years list, Build-A-Bear has over 6,000 employees globally and hired 16 people last year. Their career site has a few links on the left for View Opportunities, Benefits and Diversity. There are four choices in the middle of the page - Retail Locations, World Bearquarters (not a misprint), Distribution Center and Internship programs. You can search from each of these tabs for specific job opportunities but you can not search across the entire company.
Good luck in our search.
