Who’s Hiring from Forbes Most Trustworthy Companies List – Vol 3

handshakeFew things help an individual more than to place responsibility upon him, and to let him know that you trust him.” – Booker T. Washington

Trust. We often over look the value of trust until we’ve been cheated, let down, disappointed or all of the above. This is true not only in our relationships with each other, but in our relationship with our employer. Most people want to trust everyone and everything, but for those who’ve been burned “big time” (like losing your job through no fault of your own), trust is hard one.

So exactly what does “trustworthy” mean”? Well, according to yourdictionary.com, Trustworthy means dependable and reliable (and, of course, worthy of trust). So how do you know if a company is trustworthy? Do your research. How do employees, customers and the general public feel about the company? The Forbes list is another great place to start (because they’ve done all of the work for you). I am skipping the companies on the list that don’t have a careers site. The companies listed below had more than 980 job opportunities (across all of them).

  • Cintas – This company provides personal services and employs more than 30,000 people. Their career site has an overview (why you would want to work there) and the company has a number of industry acknowledgments (in addition to this one),  including Fortune’s Most Admired list. The left hand side of the page has one link for viewing current job opportunities (along with a telephone number). The right hand side of the page has a number of links such as Career Paths, Campus Career Opportunities and more. This is followed by additional links for company information. There were 909 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • American National Insurance – No need to explain what this company does. They cover the full range of insurance products. Their career site is fairly simple, with a brief over view of the company and links on the left hand side of the page for general information, Career Center, Benefits plus a few more. Clicking on the Career Center leads to a page with links for search jobs, job cart (yes, you can register) and help. There were 8 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • Compass Minerals International – a leading supplier of highway products, Compass’ career site is very simple with career search only. There were 15 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • Mercury General – An insurance company with almost 5,000 employees, Mercury’s career site is fairly simple with links for Job Listings, College/Career Fairs and Benefits on the left hand side. Center page has the same links with a very brief overview. Click on Job Listings to get to the Careers Center where you can search for jobs or create your profile. There were 30 job opportunities when I checked the site.
  • CenterPoint Energy – CenterPoint  is the nation’s 3rd largest electricity and gas utility with over 8,600 employees. Their career site is crisp with links on the left hand side for Job Openings, Career Center, Benefits and more. Center page is a brief company overview. At the bottom of the page are sections for new/returning visitors (for creating or returning to an account) as well as a section for Job Openings. There were 23 job opportunities when I checked the site.

Good luck in your search.
