It’s only appropriate that I end the year with a post that lists links to the “best” or the “top” career related sites. These are all 3rd party rankings (so no pressure on me). I’ll also reference a few of my posts from this site. No room to list them all, so let me know what I’ve missed and I’ll be happy to add it to a future post.
- The Best Career Resources Sites – This list, by QuintCareers.com, includes the “best all-around” sites according to QuintCareers. These are sites that typically provide general information across several topics (rather than focused on a specific topic). The list is in alphabetical order (each page has 10).
- The Top Ten Job Search Engines on the Web – About.com’s list of top 10 job search engines. The list includes sites that generally appear on other “top 10 lists”, although FedWorld is new to me.
- CollegeGrad’s Top 30 Careers – Maybe too late for College Grads (unless your career is on the list), but certainly something to consider when picking your major or deciding on Grad school.
- 100 BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR – I’ve covered this Fortune list before, but it is certainly worth another look. What is interesting is to compare those companies that appear on the list every year. This page also shows a graphical map of where these companies have their headquarters as well as a tool to pick the right company for you.
- Working Mother’s 2008 100 Best Companies – Fresh off the presses, Working Mother provides their list of the 100 best companies. The site includes the methodology, the “Best vs the Rest”, “Best in Class” as well as detailed information on each company.
- The 150 Most Influential Headhunters in the World – I covered this BusinessWeek article in a previous post (and it’s listed on the Career Related Articles list), the list is interactive and provides the information you need to leverage the right recruiters (remember the “rules of the road“).
One of my first posts on CareerAlley – I lost my job, now what? is still one of my favorites and is an important read for anyone who has just lost their job.
That’s it for this year. Have a Happy New Year and good luck in your search!
