I’ve covered various aspects of the job interview, but I thought it would be helpful to put it all together in one place and include some additional points and links that have not yet been discussed. As an example, you should always have extra copies of your resume when you go on an interview. Sounds basic, but you would be surprised how many people fail to do this. Some basic points:
- Dress the Part – The general rule of thumb is to wear business attire when going on a job interview. There are some exceptions to this (if the interview was arranged by a recruiter you can ask them about what to wear).
- How to Dress for an Interview – About.com article on how to dress for an interview. The article includes both Men’s and Women’s attire as well as additional links on “how to dress”.
- How to Dress for a Job Interview – This article, from Collegegrad.com, provides additional information on this topic, from the point of view of a college grad.
- Interview Questions – There are two views for interview questions – questions you will be asked and questions you should ask. I’ve provided links to both below.
- Good Questions to Ask in an Interview – A long list of potential questions you can ask from GradView.com.
- Interview Questions Practice makes perfect – Spherion.com provides an extensive list of questions you might be asked.
- Be Prepared – You should do as much research on the company as possible:
- Use resources like Google Finance or CNBC.com for research purposes.
- Do you know anyone at the company? You can check this on LinkedIn.com.
- Bring extra copies of your resume. Even if they have a copy, there is a good chance that additional copies may be needed.
Good luck in your search.

Dress the part is so important. Looking like you deserve to be there can and will make up for any other deficiencies. Thanks for the great info!
