Part of what makes these companies the “best to work for” are the perks. Some examples are help buying a home, discounts on groceries, Scholarships for kids and work / life balance (such as job sharing, work from home and compressed work weeks). You can use the Best benefits: Perkfinder from Fortune’s website to find companies that have perks that appeal to you.
- Scottrade – Scottrade is a discount broker and 60 on the list (down from 58). They have over 1,900 employees and hired 390 people last year. Their main career site has tabs at the top with Job Openings, company information and a tab for Internships. In the center of the page they list upcoming Career Fairs. Select Job Openings to review links to Job Openings by category, manage your resume, create a job agent and look at all job openings. There were over 70 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- Deloitte – This accounting firm was ranked 61 (up from 95), the have approximately 45,000 employees globally and added 2,311 jobs last year. Their main careers page leads with experienced hires and explains some of the career paths at Deloitte. The site also shows the number of job openings (337 when I checked). There is an advanced job search function at the bottom of the page. There is also a dedicated page for students.
- Griffin Hospital – Number 62 on the list (down from 49 last year), this hospital has over 1,100 employees and added 16 new jobs last year. Their careers page has an advance job search function in the middle and types of careers on the left hand side of the page. There were 28 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- The Mayo Clinic – Everyone has heard of the Mayo Clinic. Ranked 63 (down from 59 last year), they have almost 42,000 employees and added 890 jobs last year. The main careers page has information about the company, links for jobs in each location and a link for jobs for Physicians and Scientists. You can register on the site and upload you resume. There is no way to look for all jobs available, so you will need to select the location of your choice to search for jobs. For each location, the job search page has additional resources, such as preparing for your interview.
- Milliken – If you’ve not heard of this company, they are textile maker and were ranked 64 (up from 92 last year). They have over 9,500 employees and added 550 jobs last year. Their main career site has tabs at the top for Opportunities, Locations, Recruiting process as well as background on the company. Their Opportunities page is very interesting. Each job type is shown as a box with connecting lines (none show job opportunities). Click on “How to Apply” and submit a resume via their website.
