“The Best Companies to Work for” (Vol VII)

We are about a third of the way through the “Best Companies” list as of this post (excluding the companies covered under other posts). Not much to comment on, so let’s continue with the list.

Container Store – Number 32 on the list (down from 20 last year), this retailer opened four new stores last year, has been on the Best list for 10 years in a row and increased staff by 4% with a total of over 4,000 employees worldwide. Their main careers page is mostly a company overview with a number of informational links on the right-hand side and a link to their Career Center. From the Career Center, you can register, view current job openings, post your resume and keep track of your job submissions. The job search feature is divided by job type (Stores, Distribution Center, Home Office and Customer. solutions.
JM Family Enterprises – A diversified automotive company, they are number 33 on this years list (down from 23 last year). They have over 4,500 employees and added 25 new jobs last year. The main careers page provides an overview on the company with links to various aspects. There is also a link to job postings, which had 12 job opportunities when I checked it. You can register on the site and apply for opportunities directly once you’ve clicked on a job description.
Umpqua Bank -Number 34 on this year’s list, Umpqua has 147 branches in 3 states. They have over 1,700 employees and added 73 new jobs last year. Their main careers page has company information with a link to Career Opportunities. Their opportunities page allows registration with resume posting as well as a job search function. When I checked there were 75 job opportunities across a few states, from junior jobs to senior jobs. Clicking on a job displays the job description and a “submit your application” link.
Kimley-Horn & Associates – Based in North Carolina, the company provides design and consulting services for landscape architecture, structural engineering, environmental, water resource, and aviation projects. Number 35 on the list (up from 38 last year), the company added 186 new jobs last year. The main careers page provides a company overview with links to Career Opportunities, College and Grad Students and Apply Online. You must select Apply Online to register for the site and upload your resume. There were more than 40 job openings available in mid-January.
