Links to Jobs at Company Career Sites Vol 2

Unemployment may be up, but these companies have over 4,000 job opportunities and are looking to hire them direct. What does that mean? It means that these opportunities may not be posted or advertised anywhere else. Company career sites are part of the “hidden job market” and exploring these sites should be a regular part of your job search strategy.
- Alcoa – Located in 34 countries around the world, Alcoa’s main business is the production of aluminum. From the careers page, you can search openings, find out about the company or visit the student section which is dedicated to recruiting for college students. To register on the site, you must select search openings, select your country and then create your account. You need to search by country. For the US, there were 31 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- Bloomberg – Bloomberg provides a variety of financial services and financial information. From the careers page, you can look at their culture, diversity, FAQs and search for openings. From the “finding a job” link, there are three choices: Internships, Entry-Level and Experienced Hires. You can search for opportunities and post your resume as well. There were over 100 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- Dow Jones – Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Dow Jones Indexes, etc., (now owned by the News Corporation). From the main career page you can search for jobs, look at International opportunities, Internships and a company overview. From the “Search for Job Opportunities” page you can register and post your resume. There were 115 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- Pfizer – A world leader in pharmaceuticals, Pfizer’s career site is has links to a broad range of information about working for the company including a “University Relations” section with a recruiting calendar and links to additional student resources. Clicking on “Find a Career at Pfizer” then your country takes you to a page where you can search for jobs and register. There were 228 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- Exxon Mobil – Yes, this is the giant oil company that made 10’s of billions of dollars while we were being robbed at the gas pump, but if you are looking for a company that has solid profits, this is a great place to start. The Careers page offers information on the company, career development and their diverse workforce. To get started, click on “browse careers worldwide” and click on a country. Using the US as an example, the page offers University Recruiting, Experienced Professional Recruiting, Operations Employment and Office Staff Employment. Click to apply and you can search openings or register to post your resume. An interesting read is their article on recruiting scams. There were 73 job opportunities when I checked the site.
- Microsoft – We all know what this company does. In addition to being at the top of Fortune’s most profitable list, Microsoft is also on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work for“. Based in Redmond Washington, the Careers page allows job search by region or Development Centers. Picking your country of choice from the center of the page takes you to that country’s career page. You can register, search jobs, submit your resume and create a job agent. The page also provides links to career paths, detailed information on the company and a student center. There were over 100 job opportunities when I checked the site. Overall, a very well done careers center.
- IBM – Another name known by everyone, IBM is truly a global company and its products range from manufactured goods to business services. The Job Seekers page has a video about the company, a section for University Students and search by country. Select “search openings” and you can search for jobs or register on the site. The Advanced Search function provides a number of options so that you can focus you search. There were 3,607 job opportunities when I checked the site.
