Job Hunting at its Worst

Okay, we’ve covered a number “top” lists, but what about the worst?  Don’t you want to know what not to say, what not to do and when not to look for a job?  I’m not sure who does the voting on this stuff, but I thought it would be interesting to take a look from the bottom up.

  • Top 10 Worst Job TipsBusinessWeek, via Yahoo!Finance, provides a list of the “top 10″ worst (maybe it’s really the bottom 10) job tips and why they are bad advice.  An interesting read and certainly worth the time.
  • Six Reasons to Run From a Job Interview – I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly had interviews that I wanted to run from.  Another article from BusinessWeek, this article provides some good advice on how to spot a problem interview/company.
  • Top 10 Funniest Job Horror Stories – You can’t make this stuff up. This article, from JobMob, is funny (and I’m sure you can use a break from your job search for a laugh). That being said, I think many of us have had job interview horror stories, it’s nice to see it happens to others as well.
  • NINE WORST RESUME MISTAKES -  Okay, back to the serious stuff.  This article, by Jobsearchonline, lists some resume mistakes.  Keeping in mind that your resume is your most important tool in your job marketing toolkit, you do want to make sure that it is the best document possible.  I’m not sure I agree with all nine, as some seem to be personal views, but it is certainly worth a read.
Good luck in your search.
