If you’re looking for a new job (whether you are out of work or just need to make a change), you should rank your target companies across several categories. The ones that immediately come to mind are:
- Is it a good company to work for?
- Are they a leader in their field?
- Do they offer long term growth?
- Are they profitable?
- Do they have good benefits?
- Are they diverse?
I’ve covered a few of these in past posts (such as Start your Search with the Best, How does your Company Rate? and the Fortune 1000) but we’ve not reviewed Diversity. So, how diverse are your target companies and how do you determine Diversability (yes, there is such a word)? The following links will help you make that assessment.
- Best Diversity Employers – Diversity.com’s list of the best diversity employers. Click on “Hiring Now” and the next page will list all of the companies (listed by logo) that are currently hiring. Clicking on a company’s logo will show you the jobs that are currently open for that company, but don’t stop there. If you are interested in a specific company, follow the link to the company’s website and register.
- Reader’s Choice: Best Diversity Companies 2008 – This list, provided by Diversity/Careers, lists companies, government agencies and other organizations that have been voted by readers as the best diversity companies.

- Investigating a Company’s Commitment to Diversity – This article, provided by CareerBuilder.com, provides a very good list of what to look for in determining if your target company is committed to diversity.
