Diversity Job Search Sites

There are quite a few diversity based career sites (job search, advice, career fairs, etc.) and you should leverage these to the extent possible.  This post will focus on a few diversity sites across the spectrum (more in future posts).

  • Workforce50.com – As the name implies, Workforce50 serves older workers. The site offers registration (enter your profile and upload your resume), the ability to make your search “private” or “public” (most of the job search sites have this option, see my post - Protecting your Privacy) and the ability to setup job alerts based on your criteria.  There is also a section on career resources.  As compared to other sites, there does not seem to be many jobs posted on this one.  As a simple test, I did a job search for Finance and Accounting jobs in New York and the search came up empty.  Searching all jobs in New York came up with 3.  Try the same searches in almost any of the top 50 major search sites and you will get a very different result.
  • LatPro.com – LatPro is a site for Hispanic and bilingual professionals.  The site appears to be very comprehensive. You can post your resume, receive job listings via email and browse current listings.  The site lists job fairs down the left hand side of the page and also shows a list of employers top center page. There are tabs along the top covering job search, career advice, “About” (the site), job fairs and employers.  The home page also shows a brief listing of top jobs.  Certainly worth a look.
  • WomenforHire.com – This site covers a wide range of topics.  There are tabs across the top covering career expos, advice, work from home, job board plus a few others.  The site is rich with advice, blogs and offers a full list of job fairs (right hand side of the home page).  You can register and post your resume or search jobs (if you don’t want to register).  Using the same search criteria as mentioned for Workforce50.com,  there were 55 jobs for New York (Finance / Accounting) and 86 jobs searching New York (without job key words).
  • NABA Career Site - The National Association of Black Accountants’ (NABA) online career center offers a full range of services for the job seeker.  You can post your resume, find jobs and create a job agent.  The main site is filled with a broad range of programs, conventions, publications and a listing of member firms.
Good luck in your search.
