I’ll be continuing this theme (who’s hiring from the Best Companies list) over the next few days/weeks covering the remaining companies on the list (not previously covered). Please see the prior post on this topic (Who’s Hiring at “The Best Companies to Work For” – 2009) as well as the post from last year’s list (Who’s Hiring from the “Best Companies” Lists?).
- Recreational Equipment (REI) – This is REI’s 11th year (in a row) on the Best Companies list. REI produces recreation related clothing and equipment. Their career page provides detailed information on the company’s benefits, which is very impressive (and I’m sure one of the main reasons they are on the list). You can register on the site, create job search agents and manage job submittals. The site provides full background on the company, including culture and diversity. A quick job search returned 13 opportunities and each listed position has full detail with an “apply” button.
- Devon Energy -Devon is a oil and gas exploration company. This is their 2nd year on the list where they rank 13th (up from 48 last year). A company fact sheet is available from the main page. Their career page is mostly filled with background on the list (they are also included on Canada’s “Best Places to Work” list). There are links to company background and compensation & benefits. There is a “Work here/Apply” link which leads to two additional links (Experienced Hires and Canadian Campus Recruiting). A quick search returned 66 job opportunities. You can register on the site, although it’s not clear if there are job alerts available.
- Robert W. Baird – Baird is an investment advisory firm, providing a range of financial products. Ranked 14 on this year’s list (up from 39), they hired more than 200 people in 2008 when many companies were cutting back. Their career page is balanced between Current Openings and Working at Baird. You can search for jobs regionally (U.S., Europe and Asia) or by professional background with a dedicated link for Internships. You can register and submit a resume or search jobs. A quick search returned 15 jobs in the U.S.
- W. L. Gore & Associates – Number 15 on the list, W.L. Gore is a global company and is headquartered in Newark Delaware. In addition to Fortune’s list, they have also been named to the best workplaces lists in the UK, Germany, France and Italy. Their product of note is Gore-Tex, but their product range and the industries they cover are diverse. Their career page has links for Jobs by Region, Compensation, Opportunities for New Graduates and several links for company background. Clicking on “Apply for Careers by Region” leads to their Explore Opportunities and Apply Online page. They have an extensive FAQ and help section on the page and provide an amazing amount of help support for job applicants. The search function is divided by region, which returned 142 jobs when I checked.
Good luck in your search.
