Time to review some of the basics again (Resumes, Cover Letters and Interviews). These resources are for both those just starting their job search as well as those well into their search. These are living documents which should be reviewed and tailored to your needs as they change.
- Resumes - About.com‘s section on resumes is very extensive. There are links to resume samples, types of resumes, resume templates, how to write a resume and much more. Following the section on resumes are sections on cover letters and reference letters.
- Tips For Writing Cover Letters – A very good article from WorkTree.com, the article provides tips for writing your cover letters, cover letter writing suggestions, and basic rules for good cover letters. There is a toolbox next to the article which provides links to additional resources.
- Interview Survival Kit – This resource, from the Washington Post, provides a wealth of information regarding the interview process. There are links to preparing for the pitfalls, improper questions, as well as additional resources/links throughout the site.
- Tips for Using the Internet to Your Advantage – While everything that I’ve posted, for the most part, involves the Internet, we’ve not specifically covered leveraging the Internet in your job search. This article, by LasVegasJobs.net, covers a few topics. One that I almost forgot is what the Internet will uncover about you, employers will check, so make sure to Google yourself and see what you find.
Good luck in your search.
