And Let’s Not Forget the Rest of the World
While I live in the US and the majority of my reviews/posts are US focused, I do cover non-US sites from time-to-time (and I do get visitors outside of the US). Today’s post is dedicated to English language non-US job search sites (job boards). Some of the larger search sites (like Monster.com and eFinancialCareers.com) have sites located in several countries.
- Check4jobs.com – “The UK’s fastest job search”. This site has a very clean, easy to use and crisp interface. At the top of the page is “Job Board Search” (which takes you to a page of job search sites), “Register CV” (which allows you to register on the site), “Jobs by Email” (which let’s you set-up a search agent) and “Website of the Year!” (which allows you to vote/rate the site). You can do a quick search (located center, below the top categories), or search by sector, location, check your prior searches and look at popular searches. What I like best is that there is no need to continually click to the next page when you initiate a search. Once you get down to the bottom of each page the site loads additional matches (so you can continue to scroll down until all matches are completed). Clicking “links” at the bottom of the page opens a comprehensive page of job related resources.
- Careerone.com.au – This site is an Australian based job search site and has a fairly busy home page. There are seven tabs across the top (Job Search, Research Companies, News & Advice, Education & Training, Services & Products, Self Employment and Advertisers). The Job Search tab allows search by Industry and Location. You can upload your resume, search jobs and get jobs by email. Each of the tabs listed above have a wealth of information (too much to list here). A very comprehensive job resource site.
- Seek.co.nz – “New Zealand’s #1 job site” (according to Nielsen and Netratings) – The site, which has tabs at the top for jobs in Australia and the UK, allows job search, resume posting and job search agents (receive jobs via email). There is a quick search function on the home page with an advanced tab which allows more specific searches. There are Salary Survey, Career resources and Training sections as well. There is an associated Seek Learning site (www.seeklearning.co.nz) which provides a full range of career based education and training.
- Workopolis.com – “Canada’s biggest job site” – The site, which appear to have a mobile version and is available in French as well, has 7 tabs at the top focusing on Search Jobs, Fasttrack, My Workopolis, Student/entry level jobs, resource center and Employer Site (which employers use to search out candidates). There is a quick search function on the home page as well as links to resources and popular searches. There is a “Boss panic button” (first time I’ve seen this) which takes you to a new page which looks like a PC desktop (although rather empty). You can register and post your resume, which allows tracking personal job lists, the ability to save job searches and setting up your job search alerts.
Good luck in your search.
